Marisa Spalding, JD, MPH
Advisory Board Member
Mimi Spalding brings experience as a collaborative and strategic attorney and over 10 years of knowledge in sexual and reproductive health policy, social justice, and health equity to the CECA Advisory Board. She has served as a Program Officer for the U.S. Programs Patients and Access team at the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation since August 2019, where her work focuses on issues relating to health policy and financing.
Prior to joining the foundation, Mimi served as a Senior Policy Analyst at Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), where her work focused on Medicaid, maternal health, and contraceptive equity. Prior to PPFA, Spalding was a Staff Attorney at the National Health Law Program; Director of Public Policy at Physicians for Reproductive Health; and an If/When/How Reproductive Justice Fellow at the Black Women’s Health Imperative. She has also served on the board of Catholics for Choice and as a member of the National Quality Forum’s Perinatal and Reproductive Health Committee. Since 2014, she has been a member of the historically Black organization, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., which is a community-conscious, action-oriented organization.
An Arizona native, Mimi received three degrees from the University of Arizona: a BS in Family Studies and Human Development with a minor in African American Studies, an MPH in Maternal and Child Health, and a JD. She is licensed by the state Bar of Maryland.
